Ordinary Hymns

About

Why choose such an “ordinary” name for these hymns?

Acts 4:13 tells us about ordinary men whom the Holy Spirit was using to build His church. After Peter and John healed a lame man at the temple in the name of Jesus (Acts 3), they were brought before the rulers, elders, and teachers of the law. These leaders not only received their answer to the question of by what power or name the miracle had been done, but they also noticed something very important.

Acts 4:13 (NET) says:

When they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and discovered that they were uneducated and ordinary men, they were amazed and recognized these men had been with Jesus.

These hymns are for fellow ordinary men and women who belong to Jesus. A very ordinary man is writing, recording, and producing these hymns in his ordinary shop with a space heater and window unit air conditioner. With each hymn you’ll find a story of how and why it was written.

My hope for this resource is for ordinary Christians to sing and be edified through these hymns, and that they would be reminded of biblical truths that their hearts and minds can cling to.

All glory to Jesus Christ.
